The Mad Hatters

The Coquina Crossing Madhatters have sent 250 handmade watchcaps to two units in Afghanistan. These soldiers are in the remote and rugged Hindu Kush mountains where the Taliban are active and funneling through to other areas of the country. In the winter, the snow can be 3 or 4 feet deep and supplies which have to be brought in on a sling by helicoptor are sometimes 2 months getting there!
These ladies have been meeting every Sunday for about 9 months and will continue on making more hats for a shipment again next fall. They are working in conjunction with Coquina Crossing Soldier Support whose objective is to support the troops in the war zone by sending basic needs and wants and also humanitarian items for the soldiers to distribute to the local tribespeople in the area they serve.
